Internal\External Email Routing Problem
I have an issue with messages to external recipients getting parked on the local Exchange Server. Here is my setup. This company is located in Lawrence, KS and also inDublin, Ire. Because of the two locations, email is hosted by an ISP in Lawrence for both locations. All of the employees have their Outlook profiles setup for POP3 to this ISP. However, the local office in Lawrence has a Small Business server that uses Exchange for calendaring and contacts. The domain name in the office is domain.local. The endusers in the Dublin office are on a different domain, but require domain accts locally in Lawrence so that they can access files via VPN. Whats happening is this. When a Lawrence user sends an email to a Dublin user, the Exchange server assumes that the Dublin recipient is local, and parks the email on this Lawrence Exchange server, instead of sending it thru the ISP for delivery in Dublin. Therefore, the Dublin users must connect to the Lawrence server to get their email. I need to fix this, but Im not sure how. I created an SMTP Connector that forwarded all outgoing email to the ISPs SMTP server, but for some reason, the emails are still getting parked on the local server. Any suggestions on how to fix this?
